Neurodivergence

Neurodivergent Counselling in Surrey

Specialist support for neurodivergent children, young people, and the parents raising them — from a counsellor who understands this world firsthand.

As a parent of two neurodivergent children, I have firsthand experience of the complexities of raising children with additional needs. I can offer support around emotional-based school avoidance, home education, autism, PDA and much more.

Whether you or your child has received a diagnosis of ADHD or autism (ASD), or you're still seeking answers, counselling can provide vital support at every stage of that journey.

Areas of Support

How I Can Help

Supporting Parents of Neurodivergent Children

Navigating a neurodivergent child's needs can feel isolating and exhausting. I offer support to parents to help them understand their child's experience, improve communication, and develop strategies that work for their family's unique dynamic.

Parent-child communication strategies, emotional regulation support, and home education guidance are all areas I can help with, alongside the wider emotional toll that advocating for your child can take on you.

Supporting Neurodivergent Children and Young People

For children and young people, I help them understand and embrace their diagnosis, build confidence in who they are, manage emotional regulation, and navigate the social and academic challenges that can come with being neurodivergent. Building a strong sense of identity and self-worth is central to this work.

Neurodivergent Adults

I also support neurodivergent adults who may have received a late diagnosis or are learning to understand themselves through a new lens. It's never too late to explore how your neurodiversity shapes your world — and to find strategies that help you thrive.

FAQ

Common Questions

Yes. Many families come to me while still on a diagnostic pathway, or before starting one at all. Counselling can support your child and your family regardless of where you are in that process.

Both are possible. Some families benefit from support for the child alone, others find that working with parents — or both together — is more effective. This is something we can discuss and adapt as we go.

If you're asking this question, counselling is probably worth considering. A free initial telephone consultation is offered so we can discuss your situation with no pressure to commit.
